On 1st August to the 3rd of August we will be attending Year 6 Camp at Currimundi Recreation Centre. The aims of the activity are:
- Recognise the qualities of a good leader
- Resolve conflicts
- Develop decision making strategies
- Demonstrate effective communication skills
Activity details:
Whilst on camp, students will be in groups of around 25 and will have the opportunity to participate in a range of team building activities. These include:
Stand Up Paddleboarding
Ever wanted the feeling of walking on water or viewing the underwater world from your own personal viewing platform? We will teach you the required paddle skills and board control to participate in one of Australia’s fastest growing recreational sports.

Catapults
Bring out your medieval side with catapults. Your group will learn the art of knot tying as well as some basic structural design principals. Once you have mastered these skills, put them to the test in an old-fashioned shoot-off!

Circus Skills
A physical and mental work out that develops impressive new tricks like juggling, plate spinning, diablo and more. Circus skills incorporates motor skills, balance, co-ordination and problem solving in a fun environment to develop trust and self-confidence.

Raft Building
Have you got what it takes to make it off a deserted island? Work in a team and learn the basic skills to build a water going raft. Then put your construction skills to the test in a race on the water.

Alpine Team Rescue
Our team rescue courses are designed to develop leadership, teamwork, trust, communication and problem-solving skills. Work together using planks and ropes to balance your way to success.

Team Challenge
Together Everyone Achieves More—Go team! Conquer an assortment of team building activities, which give people the opportunity to draw on their strengths and weaknesses to work towards a common goal.

Some of these activities carry a medium to high level of risk, however, fully trained camp staff will be supervising the students, with Year 6 teachers providing additional support and supervision.
A 'What to bring' list is included with this information. Please ensure your child has all the necessary items. Extra items such as devices, food, toys, jewellery and money are not permitted.
Students with medication must have the medication administration form completed, and all medication provided with a pharmacy label showing the prescribing doctor's name (even non-prescription medication). Medication needs to be handed to the class teacher with the permission to administer form (available from the school office) as soon as possible.
Any information regarding dietary requirements for your child will also need to be included.
The camp site requires final numbers by the 11 July 2022, therefore the cut off date for permission forms must be completed by that date, which is the first day of Term 3 schooling.

The Department of Education is collecting the personal information in this form in order to:
- obtain consent for the named child/student to participate in the named off-site activity;
- help coordinate the off-site activity;
- respond to any injury or medical condition that may arise during or as a result of the off-site activity; and
- update school records where necessary.
The information will only be accessed by authorised departmental staff. The information will not be disclosed to any other person or agency unless we have your consent or we are required or authorised by law to do so e.g. in compliance with relevant Queensland Chief Health Officer’s Directions.
