Dear Parents and Carers
Due to missing camp in 2020 due to Covid restrictions, a year 6 Leadership Camp has been booked for Term 3.
The camp will be held at the Sunshine Coast Recreation Centre at Currimundi from Wednesday the 11th of August, to Friday, 13th of August. We have been able to keep the cost down at $208, which covers a range of exciting activities, all food and bus fare to and from the venue.
Camp will be a valuable learning experience for all students, and students will experience a variety of fun and engaging activities.
The key outcomes of the camp are to:
- Recognise the qualities of a good leader
- Resolve conflicts
- Develop decision making strategies
- Demonstrate effective communication skills
Whilst on camp, students will be in groups of around 25 and will have the opportunity to participate in a range of team building activities. These include:
- Stand Up Paddleboarding
- Catapults
- Circus Skills
- Raft Building
- Alpine Team Rescue
- Team challenge
Some of these activities carry a medium to high level of risk, however, fully trained camp staff will be supervising the students, with year 6 teachers providing additional support and supervision.
A ‘What to Bring’ list will be sent out in the near future. Please ensure your child has all the necessary items. Extra items, such as devices, food, toys, jewellery and money, are not permitted.
Students with medication must have the medication administration form completed, and all medication provided with a pharmacy label showing the prescribing doctor’s name (even non-prescription medication). Medication needs to be handed to the class teacher with the permission to administer form (available from the school office).
Payment of $208 can be made in full by 23 July or through the following instalments:
