Dance Lessons - Years 1, 3 and 5

Dear Parents and Carers

Next term students in years 1, 3 and 5 will have the opportunity to participate in weekly Dance lessons as part of the curriculum learning area of The Arts. The lessons will be for 1 hour each week and will run for 5 weeks. Lessons will be on Thursday starting 15 July 2021. The timetable below is tentative at this stage and will be confirmed prior to lessons commencing.

This is an amazing opportunity to develop students’ creative abilities as well as increasing their physical activity. The students will develop knowledge, understanding and skills through dance practices focusing on: body awareness, space, timing, dynamics, fundamental movement skills, technical skills and safe dance practices. There will be a strong focus on personalised lessons catering to students’ interests and ability level led by a qualified dance instructor.

Aspects of these lessons are used by teachers to assess students in the area of The Arts and reported on in the Semester 2 Report Card. Those children who do not participate will be supervised by a teacher and required to complete an assessment task focused on Dance.

The cost for 5 dance lessons is $10.00 per student and is due by Thursday 17 June. Late payments will not be accepted. If you need a payment plan, this needs to be in place before the due date.

If your child is injured as a result of an accident or incident, all costs associated with the injury, including medical costs are the responsibility of the parent/carer. Some incidental medical costs may be covered by Medicare. If you have private health insurance, some costs may be also be covered by your provider. Any other costs must be covered by parents/carers.
